INGREDIENTS:
- 200g all-purpose flour
- 50g corn flour
- 1 dry yeast sachet
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 280 ml lukewarm water
- oil for frying
For the syrup:
- 250 ml water
- 200g sugar
- 1 slice lemon
- 1 tablespoon honey
METHOD:
Start by making the syrup so it has time to cool before dipping the honey balls. Boil the sugar, water, lemon and honey together. Remove from heat and let it cool.
In a bowl, add all ingredients except for oil. Water must be lukewarm. Mix all together with a spoon until the mixture becomes a smooth batter. Cover the bowl with some plastic wrap and let the dough rest for some time in order to rise.
In a frying pan, heat the oil to high heat. Take some dough and close your hand: a ball will be formed between your thumb and index finger. Using a spoon – that you previously dipped in cold water – take the spoonful and place it in the frying oil. Repeat until the end and remember to always dip the spoon in water.
Turn the honey balls on all sides with a slotted spoon until golden brown. Once fried, remove from pan. Drizzle with syrup or simply with honey.
